Ever been dive bombed by a hawk?
Posted by: VoltsAndBolts - 07-01-2015, 08:08 PM - Forum: RC News - Replies (2)

PARK CITY, Utah, June 30 (UPI) -- A Utah RC enthusiast whose miniature planes were repeatedly attacked by a dive-bombing hawk recorded the bird's attacks with onboard cameras.
The YouTube user behind the rctestflight channel posted a video explaining his RC planes were frequently being attacked by a hawk at the Park City park where he creates most of his test flight videos.

The user said the hawk was apparently "not to keen on RC aviation" so the man and his friends "decided to mount some cameras on board to see if we could get any good shots of him."
The cameras recorded the hawk repeatedly dive-bombing the plane, scoring hits including one direct blow to a GoPro camera.
The camera ended up pointed straight up, but did not break or come free of the plane.
The man said he took care to make sure his plane did not pose a danger to the bird.
"Once the hawk started to dive, I would cut the throttle to avoid any injury from the prop," he said.

That is one persistent bird!

Silverlit’s DigiCam RC Helicopter is a Tiny Camera with Rotors Attached
Posted by: VoltsAndBolts - 06-25-2015, 07:22 PM - Forum: RC News - No Replies

If you have ever looked at a camera lens and wished you could simply stick helicopter rotors on it and then fly it around the house, you are in luck. Toy Company, Silverlit, has introduced the Nano Flacon DigiCam: an incredibly tiny RC helicopter with a built-in camera capable of photo capture and video recording. Costing 8,980 YEN ($72), the little copter may just be worth picking up for a joyride when it is released this July.

After charging the helicopter, you will have up to four minutes of continuous flight time to capture some photos and video. Beyond knowing that the camera will only be able to capture VGA 640×480 resolution content (that is 0.3MP), there is not much else known about the camera itself. That being said, you probably won’t be buying this toy for more than a bit of fun around the house.

The Nano Falcon DigiCam can be folded up for storage and charging within the unit’s remote controller.
A full charge will take around 35 minutes and all recorded content is stored on a swappable SD card. If your Mac or PC doesn’t already have an external SD card slot, you can use the included USB cable to transfer your images.
If you’d like to pick up one of these small camera copters, pay a visit to Silverlit’s website come July 18th.

Star Hello from Henniker NH (The only one on earth)

I have been taking things apart and putting them back together since I was old enough to hold a soldering iron or turn a wrench. I truly enjoy the process of building something and getting it to work, at times more so then using my creation when I'm done.  A former naval submariner and current engineering geek... And oh yeah, discussion form administrator.  Smile

I've been RC-ing for 30+ years in various ways with various craft, from Gliders to Tug Boats.  gas and electric, scratch built and ARF.
NOT a master modeler, but a little A.D.D. when it comes to my hobbies... I'll start a project and very nearly complete it!
everything will work, float/fly/roll...but in not-a-perfect condition... Sooo confessions out of the way , I LOVE to build new stuff! and my 53" long scale model of  the Eugenia Moran Tug boat is always under construction!

Pictures to come!
